Robust Image Registration Based on Mutual Information Measure
A new implementation of the image registration algorithm based on the mutual information is presented for the case of medical images. The registration is achieved if the maximum of the mutual information is attained. In this maximization process optimal values of five parameters of an affine transformation are searched.
متن کاملA Novel Subsampling Method for 3D Multimodality Medical Image Registration Based on Mutual Information
Mutual information (MI) is a widely used similarity metric for multimodality image registration. However, it involves an extremely high computational time especially when it is applied to volume images. Moreover, its robustness is affected by existence of local maxima. The multi-resolution pyramid approaches have been proposed to speed up the registration process and increase the accuracy of th...
متن کاملreducing interpolation artifacts for mutual information based image registration
medical image registration methods which use mutual information as similarity measure have been improved in recent decades. mutual information is a basic concept of information theory which indicates the dependency of two random variables (or two images). in order to evaluate the mutual information of two images their joint probability distribution is required. several interpolation methods, su...
متن کاملContour-Based Image Registration Using Mutual Information
Image registration is a problem that arises in many image processing applications whenever information from two or more scenes have to be aligned. In image registration the use of an adequate measure of alignment is a crucial issue. Current techniques are classified in two broad categories: area based and feature based. All methods include some similarity measure. In this paper a new measure th...
متن کاملHalton Sampling for Image Registration Based on Mutual Information
Mutual information is a widely used similarity measure for aligning multimodal medical images. At its core, it relies on the computation of a discrete joint histogram, which itself requires image samples for its estimation. In this paper, we study the influence of the sampling process. We show that quasi-random sampling based on Halton sequences outperforms methods based on regular sampling or ...
